The Sora Arc Lamp: When Wood Learns to Flow
Share
When we began designing the Sora Arc Lamp, our goal was simple: to create a piece that felt alive in its stillness. We wanted a lamp that carried warmth not only through its light but also through its form, material, and rhythm.
The Beginning: Drawing Light as a Curve
Sora began as a sketch of a soft arc, a shape inspired by the natural bend of a tree branch reaching toward the sun. We were fascinated by the idea of light following this quiet motion. Each early prototype taught us something new about proportion, weight, and grace. The result was a curve that felt less designed and more discovered.
Wood That Breathes
Teak, our chosen material, guided the process. Each grain pattern influenced how the curve would be cut and balanced. We worked with artisans who understand the patience required to shape teak without forcing it. The arc is not bent; it is sculpted from a single piece, allowing the wood’s natural character to remain intact.
When paired with a soft, diffused LED light, the warmth of teak comes alive. The contrast between the solid wood and the gentle illumination creates a presence that feels both grounded and fluid. It is as if nature itself has found a new language of light.
Form and Function in Harmony
The Sora Arc Lamp was created to do more than simply illuminate a room. It defines space, adding a sculptural calmness to living areas, reading corners, or bedside nooks. Every element serves a purpose. The base provides quiet stability, while the arc extends forward in a gesture that feels effortless.
We often describe Sora as a conversation between structure and flow. It is strong yet soft, modern yet timeless. It reflects Chicdwell’s belief that good design holds opposites in balance.
Crafted with Intention
Each Sora lamp is hand-finished, polished, and carefully assembled. The internal LED system is designed for even diffusion, ensuring a consistent and comfortable glow. You will not find harsh shadows or visible joints. Every detail has been refined to keep your attention on the serenity of the arc.
This level of refinement does not come from machines alone. It comes from a shared understanding between designer and craftsman, a quiet collaboration where skill meets sensitivity.
Light That Feels Alive
The experience of Sora changes throughout the day. In daylight, the teak grain catches soft highlights that reveal depth and texture. At night, it becomes an ambient sculpture, radiating a calm, golden hue. It is not merely a lamp you turn on; it is a presence that anchors your evening rituals.
More Than an Object
For us at Chicdwell, Sora represents more than a product. It expresses how we approach design through patience, proportion, and purpose. We see light as a living material capable of shaping emotion. When you bring Sora home, you bring warmth that evolves with your space.
True beauty, when created with intention, never fades. It quietly becomes part of everyday life.
